The WMWTA recognizes that international trade is a vital ingredient for this area’s business growth and economic stability. Annually we recognize a business, academic (individual or institution) or organization and an individual that has contributed to the growth of world trade in this region.

Officially founded in 2006, Women At Risk International (WAR International) unites and educates to create circles of protection around those at risk through culturally sensitive, value-added intervention projects such as:
*WAR Chest-boutique- which sells handcrafted jewelry, gifts and accessories made/imported from at-risk people from around the world
*Vocational training and additional education abroad
*U.S. Training Center (USTC) which offers steady employment, skills training and mentorship to local at-risk women
*Tea Trade Café
Through the years, the breadth of WAR International’s reach has continued to expand as the number of projects and partnerships has steadily multiplied. To date WAR International has planted/partnered with projects and programs in more than 50 countries, on 5 continents.
Kerri Orders, Aquinas College:
2019 WMWTA World Trader of the Year Individual Award Recipient
Kerri is an adjunct professor at Aquinas College and has her own consultancy, Zest International, which assists companies on their marketing and export development strategies. After spending 20 years working throughout Europe, she recently relocated back to her native West Michigan. Her marketing career began at Scholastic (NYC) and evolved into diverse international roles, UK Marketing Director, European Marketing Director, and Country Director, France, with several global companies, Warner Bros., Infogrames - Atari, and Hanna Barbera. In Paris, France, Kerri was an adjunct professor at I.A.E. and E.D.C., teaching International Marketing. She holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of Michigan and a Master of Science in Management from Boston University. Kerri is an active volunteer with several regional organizations, including the West Michigan World Trade Week, Van Andel Global Trade Center (board member) and West Michigan World Trade Association (board member and former president).
